Rhys LeeVictoria, AU
Through a highly intuitive practice, Australian artist, Rhys Lee, blurs the boundaries between representation and abstraction, crafting memories in a moment of cathartic release, communicated through a range of vibrant colours and form. His subjects dissolve into one another through a multi-faceted visual language, as textures and layers of paint reveal themselves; reminiscent of Pablo Picasso and George Condo.
Embracing a background of street art, Lee studied his BA in Visual Arts from Queensland College of Art, Brisbane and has since been represented by a range of art collections including the University of Queensland Art Museum, Sotheby’s and United Bank Switzerland. He has enjoyed solo exhibitions such as ‘Recent Paintings’ at Nicholas Thompson gallery and has been featured in publications, including Juxtapoz, The Brooklyn Rail and The Design Files. Rhys Lee lives and works in Aireys Inlet, Victoria.
