Self-taught artist, Andy Diaz, spends much of his day skateboarding, drawing, and painting, usually in a flurry of spray paint.
Equal quantities of tenderness and dark humour are absorbed into Diaz’s visual language. Creatures and figures inhabiting the canvas exude Diaz’s love of emoji culture, documenting his day-to-day conflicts and shared experiences. Rendered in a range of mediums, from oil paint to acrylic, Diaz conjures a body of dreamscapes that jump between hazy and tonal, to frenzied scenes, packed with fluorescent colour.
