Katsu Sawada American
In his visual and digital projects, Japanese-American artist KATSU questions notions of reality and fiction by conceptually integrating ideas of vandalism, commercialism, and technology. A research fellow from the Free Art and Technology Lab, a collective of creative technologists and hacker artists, KATSU's work engages with technology, public intervention, commercialism, privacy and digital culture through the use of new media practices, including drone painting, digital media and crypto art. After gaining his BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York, KATSU has exhibited in numerous high profile exhibitions including Beyond The Streets in Los Angeles and Born in the Streets - Graffiti at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain in Paris. In 2015 he created Dronescape Summer for Coney Art Walls. KATSU lives and works between Brooklyn and San Francisco.
